FOXO4-DRI is a D-retro-inverso peptide that disrupts the FOXO4-p53 protein interaction in senescent cells. In senescent cells, FOXO4 sequesters p53 to prevent apoptosis. By blocking this interaction, FOXO4-DRI releases p53 to trigger intrinsic apoptosis selectively in senescent cells while sparing healthy cells.
