Semax (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a synthetic ACTH(4-10) analogue with a stabilising Pro-Gly-Pro extension. It upregulates BDNF and NGF expression, enhances TrkB signalling, modulates dopaminergic and serotonergic systems, and promotes cerebral blood flow. Semax has no hormonal (corticotropic) activity despite its ACTH-derived sequence.
